:D Thank you so much! What did you think? There is some fine tuning i do need to do. And I would like to make a custom texture map. Love the skins. Not sure why the Portal didn’t work down the pipe. Maybe it doesn’t work in SMP. I will have to investigate it.

I know this is a little unrelated to the tumblr but I thought I would share.

Infinicat is a game I helped create over the 48 hours of Global Game Jam 2012 over the weekend.

I was one of the 3D designers and I helped create the majority of the assets (appart from the cat and mummy).

ITS FINISHED!
I worked all day today to finish the entirety of World 1.
Once I started working I had to finish it :D

I am pretty happy with the finished outcome but I know there are more things I can do to it. (I would have loved to have created working elevators, fire sticks and a boss :/)

I’ve been mega slack of late so i haven’t finished it and I really won’t release it until I have finished world 1. But hey I have some free time this week so I might power through and finish it. We’ll see.

I would love to create all of world 1.
Not sure how long that would take but I do have a bit of free time this week so we’ll see.

Took about 5 or so hours to shoot and fully edit this.

Oh yes I am back!
This is a screenshot of the entirety of World 1-2 as seen from the sky.
It is a sneak peak of the level. (click for a better view)
Tomorrow I will hopefully upload a video of a walk through of the level.

I know I haven’t updated for a LONG time and for that I am sorry.
I didn’t have motivation to work on it up until last week.
And thus I worked for about 6 hours straight working on 1-2.

I also discovered the wonders of MCEdit which I am glad i decided to use because 1-2 would have taken forever to make :/

So now I am about to go to a Hip-Hop Karaoke night and hopefully upload a vid tomorrow :D

I am back, and I am excited.

Marriage has been wonderful so far, and nobody sabotaged my computer while I was gone.

The only negative thing going on at this moment is the Scrolls trademark lawsuit nonsense, and I think I came up with the perfect solution:

The image hosting site I had all my pics uploaded to was deleted so I have re-uploaded them. This is especially for new followers who haven’t seen them yet. I haven’t worked on the map for a while due to starting a new job and other personal things. But I hope to work on it soon.

A Work In Progress

So I am finishing University this semester and have two assignments to hand in before I finish. One due today (6/6/11) which I am still working on :/ and one due by the end of the week. So work on the map has ground to a halt (even though it wasn’t moving that fast in the first place).

In the meantime I thought I would post pics on the work in progress that is 1-2.

As you can see I need to dig out the space between the roof and floor but this is a work in progress. I did leave room up the top of the level to run above it as you can in the game but I am not sure how I am going to allow access up to it. Ah i love the lighting in this shot.

This shot shows the first ? blocks in the level. Once again I have used set back dispensers but this time they are in the wall. Just pressing one of the pressure plates on the ground sets of all 5 of the blocks. This is because they connect and there is no way of setting off one without setting off others.

Also tonight I discovered this recreation of Super Mario Bros. in Minecraft and through discussion with the person that uploaded the video I thought of the use of a custom texture pack. Seeing as I have already created 1-1 I decided that I will continue using the original Minecraft blocks and when I have finished at least world 1 create my own texture pack (will have to find out how to do this) and compare the two to decide which one I prefer.

Just thought I would update the blog and let people know what is going on. I will leave you with the Yogscast’s latest adventure map video. This map is very Zelda-esque.

p.s. This is clearly part of procrastination on my part :/

Over the weekend I decided I wanted to make Super Mario Bros. in Minecraft.

Here are screenshots of my progress. (the only mod I have used is an Inventory Editor)

Here is the start of World 1-1. The map is 3 blocks wide.

This is how I made the boxes that drop stuff

I used dispensers and placed them in the background with pressure pads on the ground where they would be.

Here is the underground part where you collect coins.

I had to put a nether portal at the end and a pipe in the nether with another portal at the end that goes back.

This is because the distance between where the pipe goes down and comes back up is about 90 blocks so I decided to shorten the gap using the nether.

And here is the end of World 1-1 and the start of 1-2.

The pipe will go underground and I will continue there.

I think this is good game design practice.

Edit: The next update will probably come out when I have completed 1-2. No guarantee when that will be.
